Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring to my Training session?

This one should be a given, but bring your dog! Bring them ready to learn. Skip their meal (or two if 6+ months old) before training because we want them hungry and ready to learn new, challenging tasks. Having that increased food motivation will be really helpful.

  • 4-6’ Leash

  • Tasty Treats

Really don’t need much more than that!

Where should we meet for training?

Depends on what it is we’re hoping to accomplish at your session. If your dog barks at the door, meeting at a park will be challenging to help accomplish great door manners. If your dog struggles around distractions, let’s build up and make sure your dog is in an environment that they’re going to succeed in.

I always recommend we meet at your home for the first session!

What is Obedience Training vs Behavioral Training?

Best way I’ve found to explain it is this —

Obedience training is things you WANT your dog to do. Sit, down, come, “place” and heel, for example

And Behavioral Training is things you want your dog to STOP doing. Stop biting, being aggressive towards other dogs or humans, excessive jumping and more!

Should I sign up for 1 hour or 1.5 hours?

Truthfully most dogs can handle about 60 min of training and we can accomplish SO MUCH in that hour. But if you’re a new dog owner and have a lot of questions, I recommend you schedule 1.5 hours for your first session! That way we have plenty of time to answer all of your questions. 1.5 hour sessions are also great for 2 dog households!

This time is TOTALLY customized by you. If your best friends cousins ex boyfriend wants to tag along and split session costs, by all means let’s do it! You’re paying for time and we’ll try and accomplish as much as possible during that time.

Please understand this is a hard cut off. I’m happy to answer any additional questions through text or email or better yet, write it down for our next session. That way I can best explain and help you with your questions. Thank you!!
